Puppy, kitten or adult: context changes the schedule

A young pet, an adult with unclear history and a regularly followed pet do not have the same needs. The veterinarian checks history before choosing the protocol.

Puppies and kittens may need several appointments to build reliable protection while they grow. For adults, age alone is not enough: previous vaccines, current illness, medication and any past reaction also need to be considered.

Core vaccines and risk-based vaccines

International guidelines separate vaccines recommended for all pets from vaccines chosen according to real exposure: outdoor access, contact, boarding or travel.

WSAVA guidance separates core vaccines from protection added according to exposure. An indoor cat and a dog that goes out every day have different risk profiles, but neither protocol should be copied without an individual assessment.

Why boosters matter

Boosters maintain protection and avoid follow-up gaps. They are also a chance to examine the pet and discuss parasites, nutrition and behavior.

A booster appointment is also an opportunity to check weight, skin, teeth, heart, breathing and general condition. Keep vaccine dates and labels in the health record because they support future decisions and boarding or travel paperwork.

Casablanca: adapt to urban life

Apartment living, walks, grooming, boarding, beach outings, commuting and contact with other animals all change risk level and prevention advice.

Contact the clinic before boarding, international travel or a major lifestyle change. Some vaccines need time before they are considered valid, and administrative requirements are not the same for every destination.
